Torrent Find first Win

On a Wednesday night, Climate Pledge Arena stood ready, with eager Torrent fans hoping to witness the team’s first home goal (and win) of their inaugural season.

After a 3–0 loss to the Minnesota Frost, Seattle looked to secure its first win of the year in its second home game, this time against the New York Sirens.

New York forward Paetyn Levis opened the scoring, beating Hannah Murphy and leaving the Torrent searching for their first goal for much of the night.

The tone began to shift in the third period as the Torrent pushed to capitalize and give home fans a taste of victory. With 3:59 left to play, Sirens rookie Kristyna Kaltounková took a major penalty, giving Seattle a player advantage for the remainder of the game.

With two minutes left, Seattle was still looking for a breakthrough when Alex Carpenter buried the equalizer, tying the game 1–1. Fans erupted — and the energy only grew when captain Hilary Knight found the back of the net just 22 seconds later, giving the Torrent their first-ever lead.

In the second game of their five-game homestand, the Torrent secured the first win in franchise history.

They’ll be back at Climate Pledge Arena on December 17th to take on the Ottawa Charge.

As always support your women’s athletics and go Torrent,
