Mariners Keep Dreams Alive
For the first time since 2001, the Seattle Mariners have reached the ALDS. Mariners fans can feel the excitement — a chance to finally end the drought. The M’s have never won a World Series, and now they have the opportunity to keep that dream of getting to the series alive.
On October 10th, the Mariners played a must-win Game 5 against the Detroit Tigers in the ALDS. I was watching at Husky Stadium, where everyone held their breath to see what would happen next. The game was tied 2–2, tension building with every pitch, and then came extra innings. The signal was poor and everyone was checking to see what was happening miles away from Husky Stadium. After a total of 15 innings, Jorge Polanco sent the Mariners to the ALCS to face off against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Starting October 12th, the ALCS kicked off — a seven-game series between the Blue Jays and the Mariners, with the first two games taking place in Toronto.
Mariners fans have been saying that this year feels different. Is it the shoes on the heads? The rise of Cal Raleigh and the “Big Dumper”? Or maybe Humpy finally winning the Salmon Run for the first time ever? We might never know for sure, but one thing is certain — this season has brought out the inner child in every Mariners fan.
