STORM: Sold Out in Seattle
Climate Pledge Arena was swarmed in red, green—and one number: 22.
Caitlin Clark’s historic collegiate run didn’t just break records—it changed the game. And now that she’s in the WNBA, she’s bringing a whole new wave of excitement to women’s professional basketball. From little kids to lifelong fans, the crowd was packed with people repping her merch.
Tonight’s game was sold out, and the stands were filled with stars. Megan Rapinoe and Sue Bird were in the building, along with basketball legend Lenny Wilkens—whose statue will be unveiled this Saturday, June 28—and Washington football players Demond Williams Jr. and Jonah Coleman.
Heading into the night, the Storm were riding the momentum of a big win over last year’s champs, the New York Liberty. The Fever, on the other hand, were looking to bounce back after a tough 81–89 loss to the Aces.
Storm head coach Noelle Quinn knew what they were up against. She highlighted the threats of Aliyah Boston, Kelsey Mitchell, and of course, Caitlin Clark.
Seattle did well containing Clark, holding her to just six points. But Mitchell—who had been in a bit of a slump—bounced back strong, racking up 26 points and sinking five three-pointers. Boston was dominant inside, finishing with a career-high 31 points.
Skylar Diggins-Smith led the Storm with 22 points, but it wasn’t enough. The Fever pulled away with the win, 94–86.
The Storm return home Friday, June 27, to take on the Connecticut Sun.
