Reign unable to break the ice.

The Reign after a 1-0 win over the Kansas City Current fell against the Houston Dash on Sunday May 11th. The Reign’s starting 11 looked the same as their winning match against the Current, and the Dash had a big change. Jane Campbell not starting in goal, Abby Smith instead took that role. Her first start since 2023 with Gotham FC after getting a knee injury.  The tone of the match shifted early on in the first half with Maddie Dahlien getting a yellow card on a tackle on Avery Patterson.

A second half goal from Maggie Graham pulled the Dash ahead and the Reign while still making sure to get chances ultimately flat-lined. Emeri Adames who came out in the 71st minute quickly made a difference with a shot hitting the underside of the cross bar. The game remained at that score line with Graham’s goal early in the 2nd half being enough to ensure a win for the Dash.

This week on Saturday May 17th, the Reign are on the road in Louisville with a match up between the 8 and 9 seeds.
