Reign fall against the Pride

Saturday April 12,the Seattle Reign take on the champs from last season Orlando Pride.

After an uncharacteristically poor season last year, the Reign are looking to turn things around this year. A young roster seems to be a potential solution from Coach Harvey this week.  In the starting lineup there were familiar faces Jordyn Bugg (defender) and Ainsley McCammon (midfield)  along with rookie Maddie Dahlien from University of North Carolina. The Reign managed to keep the Pride in bay for the majority of the first half until a late goal from Barbara Banda in the 41st minute. A ball from the UW alum Summer Yates landed perfectly for Banda who knocked it in.

The Reign played better than they did the week prior in LA but had difficulty yielding results. Maddie Dahlien had a ball which looked promising but ultimately did not have the result she was looking for. In the post game conference, Dahlien said that she felt like the team outplayed Orlando which made it hurt more and that she was hungry for a goal (a clue for next week's performance against Portland).

Ultimately the Reign did not see the results that they wished for against the Pride but considered the results against the Pride the last year the Reign played well.

Until next time,
