Momentum on Montlake

October 5th: The Most Anticipated Game of the 2024-25 Season
A National Championship rematch — Washington vs. Michigan.

Washington entered this game off a tough loss at Rutgers, facing the #10-ranked Michigan Wolverines. Husky Stadium was electric, sold out, and awash in purple on this Saturday afternoon. The energy was palpable, as fans eagerly awaited the showdown, especially with the return of UW legend and alumni Michael Penix Jr.

Washington started strong, opening the scoring with a touchdown from Denzel Boston, followed by another in the second quarter from Giles Jackson. The Dawg Pack, along with the raucous crowd, played a pivotal role, creating deafening noise that disrupted the Wolverines at key moments.

But it wasn’t all smooth sailing. Michigan mounted a comeback, pulling ahead 17-14 in a tense third quarter that had everyone on edge. The momentum shifted, however, when Grady Gross nailed a field goal to tie the game. The defining moment came when Kamren Fabiculanan intercepted a crucial pass, setting up Will Rogers with prime field position to lead Washington to victory. The final score: 27-17, Dawgs.

Adding to the excitement of the night, Mariners star Julio Rodríguez was in attendance to sound the siren. UW's men’s track and field and women’s cross country teams also brought the energy, hoisting their trophies from last season in celebration of their achievements.

The night? Redemption for the Dawgs.

As always, Go Dawgs! Support your collegiate athletics,
